Now Enter the Realm of Massive Miniatures: The Gargantuan 3D Printed Castle
3D Artisans, Audio Enthusiasts Construct Impressive Scale Replica of Castle Ravenloft from Dungeons & Dragons' Curse of Strahd Campaign
Welcome, fellow terrain enthusiasts, to a breathtaking marvel that's redefining the boundaries of at-home miniatures bashing: a colossal 7.5-foot tall, 130-pound (90 cm, 60 kg) model of Strahd von Zarovich's vampire castle!
Prepare to be amazed, for this isn't just another addition to your game shelf. It's a monstrous structure that'd take up a storage shed, if not more! Truth be told, it wouldn't even fit on my gigantic dining table, which boasts a jaw-dropping 20-foot ceiling, due to its tall stature. And let's not forget, the colossal weight of 130 lbs (60 kg) is sans the towers!
Throwing some light on this behemoth, the Czech Dungeons & Dragons group Bez Zástěny proudly announced its birth on Reddit. Developing this structure required a mammoth 3,700 print hours across several machines, and cashed in countless rolls of plastic filament.
Just a head's up, Wargamer, the mastermind behind this titan, isn't an independent creation. The model, known as Castle of the Vampire Lord, was initially a crowdfunded project by 3D print designer Axolote Gaming, back in November of the previous year.
Interestingly, the colossal model isn't fully baked yet. The designer hasn't yet tackled the catacombs and basement areas, so for now, the finished model is expected to grow even larger as it'll sit atop a mountainous base to house its lower sections.
Bez Zástěny plans to unleash this monstrosity at a multi-table, epic event in the Czech Republic this July. The event's gonna get a full house as players flock to witness this awe-inspiring piece de resistance!
