**Boris FX Unveils Enhanced Silhouette and Mocha Pro 2023 for Modern VFX and Post-Production**
Boris FX, a leading developer of integrated VFX and post-production solutions, has announced the release of Silhouette 2023 and Mocha Pro 2023. These updates focus on improving performance, usability, and integration with modern workflows, making them powerful tools for digital paint artists and VFX professionals.
In Silhouette 2023, the particle generation tool has been enhanced with support for particle blending modes and new Position Path Presets, providing greater control and versatility in motion graphics and VFX creation. The software also supports the industry-standard ID matte generation system Cryptomatte, improving roto and paint workflows. A free standalone edition of the GPU-accelerated particle generator has been updated with 3D and fluid dynamics options, enabling more sophisticated effects.
The Stability node in Silhouette 2023 integrates Stable Diffusion's deep-learning text-to-image model, allowing digital paint artists to use inpaint, outpaint, or generate images from scratch using text prompts. Additionally, the Primatte node gives users access to Academy Award-nominated chromakeying technology.
Mocha Pro 2023 introduces a new workspace with the Mocha Essentials interface to streamline usage. It features GPU-accelerated object removal for much faster rendering times and new spline tools for faster masking, including Magnetic Spline with edge snapping, Freehand Spline, and Geometric Shape Tools. The software offers improved 360/VR tools with stereo 360 planar tracking and masking, horizon stabilization, and reorient features.
Mocha Pro 2023 also supports OpenColorIO (OCIO) color management compatible with Academy Color Encoding Specification (ACES) for consistent, high-end color workflows across major post-production tools like Silhouette, NUKE, Flame, and Media Composer. It integrates a lens workflow for equirectangular to flattened conversions, improving working with 360/VR footage.
Mocha Pro's streamlined workflow inside Foundry Nuke generates track data nodes directly inside Nuke's node interface. The software also offers a new tool that enables breaking up roto into different snapshots for easier management. A new tool in Mocha Pro significantly reduces time spent on tracking complicated shots and produces more organic rotoscoping results.
The Remove Module in Mocha Pro creates a single layer to eliminate unwanted moving objects on locked or static shots without tracking them. Mocha Pro is available as a plugin and standalone application with subscription, upgrade & support plans, and permanent licenses.
Silhouette is available as a standalone application and/or plugin with various subscription, upgrade & support plans, and permanent licenses. Active subscribers or those on upgrade & support plans for Silhouette and/or Mocha Pro receive the corresponding 2023 product release as a complimentary update.
Until April 28th at midnight PDT, artists can purchase Silhouette and/or Mocha Pro with a 25% discount on all available options. The releases are available as a plugin for popular video software or as a standalone application.
