17th China International Modern Railway Technology and Equipment Exhibition Showcases Global Innovations

The 17th edition of the China International Modern Railway Technology and Equipment Exhibition, held in Beijing from July 8 to July 9, 2025, provided a platform for the display of cutting-edge railway technologies and equipment from around the world. The event, which took place concurrently with the 12th UIC World Congress on High-Speed Rail, attracted over 70,000 visitors and 520 exhibitors from 14 countries.

One of the star attractions was the CR450 Fuxing EMU, a high-speed train capable of test speeds up to 450 km/h. Visitors also had the opportunity to experience a simulation of the Fuxing high-speed train, offering a realistic understanding of operating the train. Additionally, a newly introduced maglev train, capable of 600 km/h, was showcased, highlighting China's push toward ultra-high-speed rail connectivity.

Advanced inspection and maintenance solutions were another key feature of the exhibition. Intelligent unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for real-time railway infrastructure inspection were on display, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. The showcase also included hydrogen hybrid locomotives, reflecting growing interests in sustainable rail energy sources.

The event demonstrated advancements in digital and intelligent systems with the display of new intelligent signalling systems and VR-based models for station operations. These advancements in railway automation and operator training are set to revolutionise the industry.

The exhibition underscored China's leadership in ultra-high-speed rail, smart maintenance technologies, green locomotion, and digital infrastructure. By showcasing the latest advancements in railway technology from around the globe, the event positioned modern railways as transformative for regional and global connectivity by 2025.
