Affordable Miner Successfully Mines Bitcoin Block on $299 Equipment
On March 10, a solo miner struck mining gold by successfully mining block #887,212 on the Bitcoin network using a home setup of Bitax, boasting a hash rate of 480 GH/s. This digital endeavor earned the miner a reward of 3.15 BTC, equivalent to approximately $250,000.
According to CKPool administrator Kon Kolivas, the probability of mining a block with such hash power is astronomically low, typically requiring close to 3,500 years of mining. The fortunate miner operated a total of six Bitax units, with a combined hash rate of approximately 3.3 TH/s. The winning setup consisted of the Ultra model, which utilizes an ASIC chip for Antminer S19XP from Bitmain.
The Bitax Ultra, a part of D-Central Technologies' offerings, is equipped with advanced features such as standalone operation over WiFi, embedded design, and low cost. It has an efficient design for low power consumption and heat associated with mining. The Ultra's price ranges between $169 and $299 in the US.
More advanced models, the Bitax Gamma and Supra, built on the Antminer S21 latest generation chip, offer improved performance. As for efficiency and flexibility, the devices are designed with open-source AxeOS firmware for simple home or office mining setups.
CKPool users have managed to mine 297 solo blocks of Bitcoin to date, remarked Kolivas. Interestingly, this was the first instance of mining a block using a Bitax device, which occurred in July 2024.
Connecting multiple miners increases the likelihood of success, highlighted Kolivas, with total computational power being the key factor determining eventual victories. The enrichment data offers specific details about the Bitax device models, including their specifications, prices, and unique features. However, it's essential to confirm the latest specs and prices from the seller before purchasing to ensure accuracy.
The successful miner used six Bitax Ultra units, each equipped with advanced features like standalone operation over WiFi and low power consumption, to mine the block. The Bitax Gamma and Supra, more advanced models, offer improved performance using the Antminer S21 latest generation chip, providing users with increased mining capabilities.
