AgriBusiness Category Winner of Clarivate South Asia Innovation Award 2025 Announced: UPL Limited

UPL Limited, a global leader in sustainable agriculture solutions, has once again been honoured with the Clarivate South Asia Innovation Award in the AgriBusiness category. This marks the third consecutive year that UPL has received this prestigious recognition.

The award, based on rigorous research using Clarivate's proprietary Derwent Strength Index and global patent data, recognises UPL's consistent performance and leadership in developing transformative solutions for global agriculture.

Dr. Vishal Sodha, Global Head - IP, Product Registration, and OpenAg R&D at UPL Limited, commented on the award, saying, "We are honoured to receive this recognition for the third year in a row. It is a testament to our commitment to empower farmers and protect the environment with innovative solutions."

UPL's efforts are focused on addressing global food security and climate challenges. The company integrates cutting-edge science with farmer-centric innovation, developing multiple innovative sustainable agriculture solutions that have been recognised through the Clarivate South Asia Innovation Awards.

Key innovations include the development and registration of 59 new agricultural products and 152 improved seed varieties tailored for growers, particularly in Africa. UPL has also introduced bionematicide seed treatments such as ATROFORCE for cotton and NIMAXXA for soybeans, which use unique biological strains and AI-enhanced microbial technology to control nematodes sustainably without chemical residues.

UPL's research programs are strategically designed to deliver impactful and sustainable agricultural advancements. These research programs span multiple geographies and disciplines, with an emphasis on technology-driven sustainable agricultural solutions. UPL continues to invest in breakthrough technologies, digital platforms, and collaborative research to address challenges like food security, environmental impact, and climate change.

UPL's integrated programs combine access to inputs, extension services, financing, and market access to directly support over 220,000 farmers, fostering adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and climate-resilient farming techniques. The company's strong partnerships through its flagship Partnership for Sustainability (P4S) program engage nearly 150,000 farmers and collaborate with public, private, and civil society organisations to promote sustainable and resilient agricultural practices.

Dr. Sodha reaffirmed UPL's mission to reimagine sustainability in agriculture through innovation, collaboration, and technology. "Our mission is to 'Reimagining Sustainability', combining science-backed crop solutions, community engagement, and collaboration to drive sustainable growth and resilience in agriculture globally," he said.
