In a recent development, Tesla Motors Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of over 363,000 vehicles equipped with the "Full Self-Driving" system, as well as the Tesla Cyberquads for Kids, due to safety concerns.

The recall for the Tesla vehicles, which includes models from both 2024 and 2025, manufactured from November 13, 2023, to February 27, 2025, is primarily due to a safety issue involving an exterior panel called the "cant rail assembly" that can detach while driving. This stainless steel trim panel runs along the left and right sides of the windshield, and its detachment poses a dangerous road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of crashes.

The cause of this issue is that the adhesive used to bond the cant rail assembly to the truck's structure can fail due to "environmental embrittlement." Tesla's remedy involves replacing the cant rail assembly with a new adhesive and additional reinforcements to prevent future detachment, and the replacement will be free of charge.

In addition to the vehicle recall, the Tesla Cyberquads for Kids have also been recalled due to not meeting federal safety standards. Owners are being offered a full refund after they disable the electric all-terrain vehicle.

The recall for the Tesla Model S cars involves inspecting and replacing the seat belt if necessary. The recall was prompted due to concerns about the way Tesla's "Full Self-Driving" system responds in four areas along intersections and following posted speed limits, but no owner notification letters have been mentioned for the Tesla Model S recall as of yet.

This latest recall reflects continuing safety and quality control challenges faced by Tesla, contributing to declining sales and share price for the company in 2025 despite Elon Musk's original ambitious sales goals.

Recently, videos showing people ripping the panels off of Cybertrucks with their hands have gone viral, raising concerns about the durability of the Cybertruck's exterior. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has also recalled over 46,000 Cybertrucks made by Tesla, marking the eighth recall of the Cybertruck since deliveries to customers began over a year ago.
