Allegion purchases access control software provider Gatewise in a recent transaction
Allegion plc, a leading global provider of security products and solutions, has announced the acquisition of Gatewise Incorporated, a U.S. multifamily market smart access control solutions provider. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Gatewise, founded in 2017 and based in Houston, Texas, offers a retrofit-friendly gate entry system for multifamily communities. Their solution includes a resident mobile app that allows tenants to conveniently and securely open gates without physical keys or fobs, and a cloud-based management portal designed for property managers to oversee access and security efficiently.
John H. Stone, President and CEO of Allegion, stated that the combination of Gatewise and Zentra will bring a more complete access and security solution to multifamily properties. He added that the acquisition will help Allegion expand its perimeter security offerings, providing unit and common area security to multifamily properties.
Amit Sherman, CEO of Gatewise, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating that Gatewise aims to make community access simple and secure. He also mentioned that the company's portfolio features software-as-a-service solutions that integrate with leading property management systems, complementing Allegion’s Zentra multifamily access solution.
Sherman will join Allegion following the acquisition and will help ensure a smooth integration and accelerate growth for the combined businesses. He also stated that Gatewise's solutions are highly complementary to Allegion's electronic locks and Zentra multifamily access solution, aiming to alleviate the pains of traditional multifamily gate access products.
With the acquisition, the combined solution is expected to deliver recurring value to customers and end users with seamless, safe experiences. Gatewise is looking forward to serving more multifamily communities alongside Allegion and Zentra.
