Anrealage's Morinaga Unveils AI-Inspired, Moving Garments at Paris Fashion Week
Anrealage's Kunihiko Morinaga, a trailblazer in fabric innovation, has unveiled a groundbreaking collection at Paris Fashion Week. The show, inspired by therapeutic robotic cushions, featured garments that moved autonomously and explored the concept of humanity in an AI-dominated world.
The collection's concept was sparked by Qoobo, a therapeutic robotic cushion by Yukai Engineering Inc. The company's motion sensors and kinetic technology were integrated into Anrealage's garments, making them undulate and move independently.
The show was a collaboration fest. Morinaga previously worked with Kuchofuku on air-conditioned, inflatable garments. This time, he partnered with HERALBONY, empowering 18 artists with disabilities to create the collection's prints. The sustainable printer FOREARTH was also involved, reducing water usage in textile production to near zero.
The runway was a symphony of innovation. Models carried furry, feline-esque handbags with metronomic 'tails'. A small red plastic heart, delivered with the invitation, vibrated softly and emitted a heartbeat sound. The show's soundtrack, a heartbeat created with Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, layered against the artists' sounds, added to the surreal atmosphere.
