Anticipated Highlights at WWDC 2025 as Predicted by Apple Experts

Hype Builds for WWDC 2025: here's what you can freakin' expect!

Get ready, Apple enthusiasts, as the WWDC 2025 event kicks off at Apple Park on June 9, 2025. The countdown has started for the next generation of software for iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and more. Buckle up, because this year, the stakes are high!

So, what's on the horizon for one of Apple's mammoth events of the year? Although product launches at WWDC are typically surprises, not certainties, this keynote sets the stage for Apple's entire year, particularly revealing what's ahead for the next version of iOS, which will pave the way for the alleged iPhone 17 lineup, rumored to drop in September.

As it marks the first anniversary of Apple Intelligence, there's unclear tension as Apple tries to resolve the unsatisfactory delivery of last year's promises for this AI upgrade. Let's dive into the sauce of the holiest Apple-coated rumors, shall we?

1. iOS 26 New Design

Although a brand new Siri may be a long shot for WWDC 2025, we might catch a peek at what's to come. After all, how can Apple release iOS 26 without a shiny, AI-packed Siri experience? Bloomberg's Mark Gurman spills the tea on what we can expect: it's all about a new software design based on visionOS.

That means there'll be lotsof digital glass and light transparency throughout iOS 26 and its companion operating systems. The big mystery: will Apple use its failing mixed reality headset platform as a base design? Look for answers on June 9!

Other new features may appear underwhelming in comparison, like a dedicated Games app for Apple Arcade, AI-powered battery management, and a series of enhancements for three core Apple apps - Phone, Safari, and Camera. Don't hold your breath for AI-powered photo editing tools or Siri improvements, but one long-shot feature that might catch our eye is an AI upgrade for the Health app.

2. iPadOS 26 Mac-like Features

The rollercoaster ride doesn't end there! Expect a deeper merge between the functionality of iPadOS and macOS in iPadOS 26. This fusion has long been anticipated, and wowing the crowd with better multitasking is high on the list of perceived iPadOS improvements.

Some believe we'll see a complete overhaul of the multitasking features on the iPad, making it more Mac-like. The downside? You might need expensive accessories like Apple’s Magic Keyboard to make this work.

Apple must tread a fine line to strike a balance between attracting new iPad converts and keeping current iPad diehards happy.

3. A gaming push for macOS 26

Craig Federighi, Apple Software Lead, is expected to unveil a massive macOS 26 redesign – one that draws inspiration from the Vision Pro interface (Vision who?…that’s Apple's new mixed reality headset, FYI).

While the gaze and gesture-based interface of the headset is popular, it's unclear how it will actually work on the Mac. But chances are Apple has some exciting demos planned, so buckle up!

Some reports suggest that this could be the moment Apple finally unveils a touch-friendly macOS. However, don't hold your breath on that touch-screen Mac just yet.

A more likely scenario? A new Games app will connect Apple's gaming properties like Apple Arcade, games downloaded from the App Store, and possibly third-party downloads on Macs.

And, of course, we can expect that mysterious name reveal for macOS 26.

4. Apple Watch Ultra-friendly fitness features

Could WWDC 2025 be the time for Apple Watch fans? watchOS 12 (or more probably, watchOS 26) may deliver blood pressure measurement support and an AI health coach. *Health and Fitness Editor Matt Evans weighs in, "Blood pressure via LED remains the holy grail of watches, but the Whoop MG gets around this by using a cuff to measure BP as a baseline, then estimates fluctuations based on other vital signs like heart health."

There's also talk that Apple Intelligence could enhance basic functions on the Apple Watch. Don't expect a major AI-enhanced fitness Game of Thrones moment, but rather a simple port of what you can do on iOS with a wearable twist.

While delays may push back the AI-powered health coach and blood pressure measurement support to a later date, a teaser during WWDC 2025 is still a possibility.

5. A smarter tvOS

Can Apple make the best of its streaming box? Matt Bolton, our Managing Editor, Entertainment, believes tvOS fans will see some intelligence in tvOS. "In tvOS, you'll probably be able to ask for movies and shows more organically, even if you don't know the name, or ask for recommendations based on what you like. This is common in other AI-touting smart streaming devices."

Bolton also looks forward to the redesign in tvOS, with some reservations. "The design idea I'm envisioning is a home screen that has a 3D layering element, similar to visionOS," he shared, with the potential hitch being using background video for trailers or ads. But don't worry, Apple will probably steer clear of that.

According to MacRumors, the visionOS-style redesign will indeed come to tvOS 26, and fortunately, it seems that the new version will support boxes as far back as the Apple TV HD from 2015. So, older boxes won’t be left in the dust!

6. Live Translate for AirPods

What else might Apple have up its sleeve? Matt Bolton, our Editor, Entertainment, is betting on "AI-based live translation and a smarter Siri conversationalist," depending on how far Apple Intelligence pushes Siri.

There have been rumors that Apple is preparing to translate live conversations for AirPods users, with its Translate app set to be integrated across its operating system as an Apple Intelligence feature for extra convenience.

What Bolton is also looking forward to in the AirPods department is Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast support. With rumors predicting that the AirPods may also get more gesture control and sleep detection at WWDC 2025, it could be a watershed moment for AirPods fans.

7. iPhone 17 Air Teaser?

As with any Apple keynote, you never know what surprises are in store. In the past, we've caught a glimpse of new Macs and even the Vision Pro. Could 2025 be the year Tim Cook gives us a sneak peek of Apple's first folding iPhone, or better yet, an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air? With the iPhone 17 Air rumors intensifying, here's hoping!
