Apple Shifts AI Glasses Plans: Vision Air Delayed, Vision Lite Gets Own Display
Apple is shaking up its plans for AI-powered smart glasses. The tech giant is reportedly moving its Vision Air team to work on a new pair of AI glasses, set to debut in 2028. This comes after Meta's launch of the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses.
Apple is developing two pairs of AI smart glasses: the Vision Air and another model, codenamed Vision Lite. Initially planned for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively, the Vision Air, or N50, will now pair with the iPhone 16 but lack its own display. The Vision Lite, however, will have its own display and work independently of the iPhone.
The N50 is expected to make its debut in 2026, with a release following in 2027. Apple's decision to develop these glasses may be influenced by Meta's recent entry into the smart glasses market.
Apple's shift in plans sees the Vision Air team focusing on a new pair of AI glasses, set for release in 2028. This model, Vision Lite, will have its own display and function independently of the iPhone. The N50, initially planned for 2026, will now debut in the same year and release in 2027, pairing with the iPhone 16 but without its own display.
