Apple's Display-Less Smart Glasses, N50, Coming in 2023
Apple is set to release its display-less smart glasses, the N50, as early as next year. The tech giant is prioritising this model over a more affordable version of its Apple Vision Pro, despite initial plans to launch the latter in 2027.
The N50 model will offer various styling options, built-in speakers, cameras, and will be powered by a new Apple chip. Apple is also rebuilding Siri to serve as a more AI-powered voice assistant for these smart glasses.
In a shift from previous plans, Apple has halted work on a smaller, more affordable Vision Pro headset. This move comes as the company aims to compete with Meta's smart glasses and focuses its teams on producing a direct rival. The Apple Vision Pro 2, however, remains on track for a 2024 launch. Additionally, Apple is exploring health-tracking technologies for integration into its smart glasses.
Apple's smart glasses, the N50, are expected to hit the market next year, offering customisable styling, advanced features, and AI-powered voice assistance. Meanwhile, the Apple Vision Pro 2 continues its development path for a 2024 release. The company's focus on competing with Meta's smart glasses has led to a shift in priorities, with the cheaper Vision Pro model now on hold.
