Apple's New MacBook Pro M5 Coming Soon, But Pro & Max Models to Wait Until 2026
Apple fans eagerly awaiting new MacBook Pro models with Pro and/or Max chips may face a lengthy wait, with releases not expected until January to March 2026. However, the wait could be shorter for those interested in an entry-level MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and a 14-inch screen, expected to arrive soon.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the first Macs featuring the M5 chip are on their way. Meanwhile, leaks from the US communications authority FCC and a Russian YouTuber hint at an imminent release of the iPad Pro M5. While no major changes are expected in the upcoming MacBook Pro models besides the M5 chip, Apple enthusiasts will have to wait until the end of 2026 for MacBooks with OLED screens, which are slated to feature M6 chips.
Apple is set to present the MacBook Pro M5 with a 14-inch screen and the new iPad Pro M5 as early as October. Other M5 Macs are expected to follow in the spring. The successor to the MacBook Pro M4, a notebook with a simple M5 chip, is also anticipated soon. The low stock of both the iPad Pro M4 and the MacBook Pro M4 in Apple's US retail stores and online store suggests that the iPad Pro M5 and MacBook Pro M5 are on the horizon.
While the wait for the latest MacBook Pro models with Pro and Max chips may be long, the upcoming entry-level MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and a 14-inch screen offers a sooner release date. Apple's October event is expected to reveal more about the M5 Macs, with other models following in the spring. The shift to OLED screens and M6 chips is still some time away, with a projected release date at the end of 2026.
