Artificial Intelligence propels the development of Continuum version 2025.5

The latest update to Continuum, version 2025.5, brings a host of new features to video editing and visual effects (VFX) software such as Adobe After Effects, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and other compositing apps. This update focuses on AI-driven capabilities, GPU acceleration, and enhanced editing flexibility.

One of the key highlights is the introduction of AI Matte Generation and Masking. These new AI-powered masking tools facilitate automatic matte creation, making it easier to rotoscope and isolate subjects in footage, particularly useful in compositing workflows for seamless element isolation.

Continuum 2025.5 also introduces GPU Acceleration on AMD Hardware. Effects plugins have been optimized to utilize AMD GPU acceleration, boosting performance for users running on AMD graphics cards. This enhancement complements existing NVIDIA GPU support and accelerates rendering and previewing tasks.

Mocha Pro 2025.5 Integration is another significant addition. The new version of Mocha Pro included in this release features AI-driven face detection, greater editing flexibility in Matte Assist ML, and enhanced camera solve capabilities. These improvements make planar tracking and object removal more precise and efficient within the plugin suite.

The update extends enhanced support for DaVinci Resolve, while ending support for some legacy software like Vegas Pro. Media Composer users benefit from new project creation options such as customizable format presets with metadata integration to handle unique aspect ratios and workflows.

New generative AI editing features allow users to instantly generate and extend video and audio clips, as well as search clip content by keywords—streamlining content creation and post-production tasks.

Continuum 2025.5 includes 9 AI tools and creative effects in total. Notable additions include Depth Map ML, which allows for the automatic creation of depth maps from 2D footage, and One-Click Depth Maps. There are also 100+ Fresh Presets added to popular categories including Film Style, Key & Blend, Lights, and Particle Illusion.

BCC+ Frame Fixer ML is another new tool, capable of instantly replacing missing or damaged frames with AI-driven image restoration. BCC+ Depth Map ML is also included, allowing for the automatic creation of depth maps from 2D footage.

If you're on an active Continuum subscription or upgrade & support plan, Continuum 2025.5 is a free update. The new installer can be downloaded through the Boris FX Hub. Pricing for Continuum 2025.5 starts at $325/year or $48/month.

For a deeper understanding of Depth Map ML, a detailed guide is available, providing reasons and essential techniques for its use. Updated ML Models are also available, delivering enhancements to Retimer ML and Witness Protection ML effects. AI-Powered Masking is introduced in Continuum 2025.5, using two new AI tools in Mocha and the PixelChooser - BCC+ Object Brush ML and BCC+ Matte Assist ML.

In summary, Continuum 2025.5 places a strong emphasis on AI enhancements—particularly in masking, matte generation, and generative content expansion—alongside GPU optimizations and workflow improvements tailored for major video editing and compositing platforms.

Technology plays a significant role in the new update of Continuum, version 2025.5, as it introduces AI-driven capabilities such as AI Matte Generation and Masking, AI-driven face detection in Mocha Pro 2025.5, and BCC+ Frame Fixer ML for instantly replacing missing or damaged frames with AI-driven image restoration. Furthermore, the update includes new generative AI editing features that streamline content creation and post-production tasks.
