The technology world is abuzz with the latest announcement from ASUS, a leading manufacturer in the industry. They are set to release the world's first Mini LED 8K monitor - the PA32KCX - this May. This monitor promises to be a game-changer, making it a potential top choice for 8K monitors in 2025.

While the PA32KCX is still a few weeks away, another 8K contender has been making waves since its release in 2017. The Dell UltraSharp UP3218K, a competitor to the PA32KCX, offers a contrast of 1300:1 and only USB 3.0 connectivity.

Meanwhile, ASUS's ProArt PA32UCDM, set to hit the shelves in March, is already creating a stir. This OLED monitor boasts a 32-inch screen size, a refresh rate of 240Hz, and a color accuracy of Delta E < 1. It also supports Dolby Vision, making it an attractive option for graphic design and video editing.

However, it's important to note that most films are still shot in 2K or 4K, not 8K. This means that the PA32UCDM's high resolution might not be fully utilised in its native format during post-production.

Despite this, the ProArt PA32UCDM offers amazing colour and contrast, albeit with average brightness compared to more expensive models, at a price point of £1,599. Pairing it with an exceptional laptop for video editing could make for a powerful setup.

The PA32KCX, on the other hand, is expected to take the best 8K monitor crown in lists of the best monitors for video editing. Its spec sheet is impressive, promising a pro HDR display with a max refresh rate of 60Hz.

In conclusion, the monitor market is set for an exciting year with the impending release of the PA32KCX and the already available ProArt PA32UCDM. Whether you're a graphic designer, video editor, or simply a tech enthusiast, these monitors are worth keeping an eye on.
