Audi, in partnership with FAW, unveils the Q6L e-tron family, integrating Huawei's advanced driver assistance technology.
The Audi-FAW EV venture has officially started production of their new Q6L e-tron family, which includes the Audi Q6L e-tron and the Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron. These electric vehicles (EVs) are developed on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, a high-end electric vehicle platform that combines elements from Volkswagen's MEB and Porsche's J1 architecture.
The Q6L e-tron family's prices are expressed in RMB. With the current exchange rate of 1 USD to RMB 7.1789, the starting price of the Q6L e-tron family is approximately $48,590. The prices range from RMB 348,800 ($51,420) for the base model to RMB 398,800 ($56,740) for the top-tier variants.
One of the standout features of the Q6L e-tron models is the integration of Huawei's Qiankun smart driving system. This advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) provides multiple high-level autonomous driving features, including highway navigation assistance, urban navigation assistance, and smart parking assistance. The system operates on multiple branches with escalating capabilities, ranging from basic smart driving functions to Level 3 autonomous driving on highways.
The Qiankun system in the Audi Q6L e-tron and Q6L Sportback e-tron models is a deeply customized version tailored specifically for the Premium Platform Electric architecture. It integrates seamlessly with features such as a 107 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery and an 800V high-voltage system, enhancing the performance of these electric vehicles.
The development of the Q6L e-tron family is a collaborative effort, involving contributions from both Audi and FAW. It also borrows components and technical modules from multiple sources, including Volkswagen and Porsche. This collaboration and integration of technology from various automakers have resulted in a unique electric vehicle platform (PPE) for the Q6L e-tron family.
The higher-priced variants of both the Audi Q6L e-tron and Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron models come standard with free Audi-customized Huawei Qiankun smart driving technology. The Audi Q6L e-tron Pioneer Edition is priced at RMB 378,800, while the Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron Pioneer Edition is priced at RMB 398,800. Pre-sale prices for these models were slightly higher, at RMB 383,000 and RMB 373,000, respectively, and RMB 353,000 for the Audi Q6L e-tron Long Range Edition.
With the launch of the Q6L e-tron family, Audi and FAW have delivered a comprehensive package of intelligent driving assistance, from basic driving aids to near-autonomous urban and highway navigation, complemented by smart parking functionality. This aligns the system closely with high-end ADAS solutions like Tesla’s Full Self-Driving suite.
