MartinLogan Showcases Immersive Home Theater System at Audio Advice Live 25
Audio Advice Live 25, held in Raleigh, North Carolina from August 1-3, was a learning experience for families, including some with young children and even an infant. One of the highlights of the show was the MartinLogan home theater system demo, which offered a deeply immersive audio experience.
The system featured a full seven-channel electrostatic speaker array, with two MartinLogan Renaissance 15A towers for the left and right channels, an Illusion ESL C34A center channel speaker, four ElectroMotion ESL X speakers for side and rear surrounds, and four Sistine 4XC speakers for overhead sound.
The Grotto subwoofer array, comprising both Grotto 15 and Grotto 12 powered subwoofers, was employed to deliver vivid and immersive sound. Four Grotto 15 subs were placed in the front, and four Grotto 12 subs were placed in the rear. Prices for these subs are not yet finalized.
The system utilized a Trinnov Altitude16 preamp/processor for processing duties and a Trinnov Amplitude 16 power amplifier for power. The JVC DLA-NZ900 flagship projector, an 8K model with 150,000:1 native contrast, delivered the best picture quality at the show and was paired with a Stewart Filmscreen 185-inch projection screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
The demo of Top Gun: Maverick on the MartinLogan system had visceral and accurately tracked airborne trajectories of fighter jets, while the demo of Ready Player One conveyed crashes with deep bass impact, thanks to the Grotto subwoofer array.
The JVC NZ900 projector's rendering of color gave equal weight to both vivid and subtle hues, making the movie playback a visual treat. The video source for the demo was a Kaleidescape movie player, a standard item for home theater show demos.
However, the intense Ready Player One sequence proved to be too much for an infant who had to leave quickly. Despite this, the MartinLogan demo at Audio Advice Live 25 showcased the vivid and immersive sound of the Grotto subwoofer array, making it a standout experience at the show.
