In a significant move for the industry, Pegasystems Inc. and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a five-year collaboration aimed at accelerating legacy modernization projects. The partnership focuses on leveraging advanced generative AI services, including Amazon Bedrock and AWS Transform, integrated with Pega products such as Pega Blueprint™.

According to Chris Grusz, the managing director of technology partners at AWS, this strategic collaboration combines AWS AI-powered modernization capabilities with Pega's expertise in enterprise workflow transformation. The goal is to reduce technical debt by automating the full modernization lifecycle with agentic AI workflows, enabling enterprises to replace outdated legacy systems efficiently without disrupting critical business functions.

The collaboration includes using Amazon Bedrock and AWS Transform with Pega Blueprint to accelerate legacy modernization projects. Pega Blueprint, a cloud-based application infused with AI agents, speeds up the design and development of workflow applications, facilitating rapid modernization. Amazon Bedrock integration powers Pega’s AI decisioning and workflow automation platform, providing secure generative AI capabilities.

AWS Transform uses agentic AI workflows to automate modernization tasks, accelerating the transition from legacy systems. This approach helps clients move to the cloud faster and more efficiently, freeing them from resource-intensive technical debt and enabling strategic business process changes driven by AI.

The partnership also supports Pega-as-a-Service offerings through the AWS Marketplace. This collaboration empowers organizations to not just incrementally improve legacy systems but to fundamentally transform them, unlocking AI-driven productivity and agility critical in today’s digital-first environment.

Manas Kumar Sarkar, the vice president of the enterprise application integration service at Infosys, expressed excitement about the agreement, stating that it streamlines the path to integrate Pega Platform and Pega Blueprint into Infosys Cobalt, Infosys' industry leading cloud offering built on AWS. The collaboration will enable Infosys to offer more value to its customers.

A recent Pega survey found that more than two-thirds of IT decision makers in global enterprises say outdated legacy systems and applications are preventing them from embracing technologies like artificial intelligence and automation. This collaboration aims to address this issue by providing customers with powerful tools to escape technical debt without disrupting critical business operations.

The collaboration allows partners to differentiate their services by infusing their IP and best practices into Pega Blueprint to transform legacy applications, according to John Higgins, the chief of client and partner success at Pega. This deepened collaboration with AWS is a significant step in empowering organizations to use generative AI for legacy application transformation.

Moreover, clients can securely use generative AI large language models from companies including Anthropic, Amazon, Cohere, Meta, and more with Amazon Bedrock. The collaboration enables Pega to offer comprehensive migration services and tools for on-premises clients transitioning to Pega-as-a-Service.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Pegasystems Inc. and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to revolutionize the way enterprises approach legacy modernization. By leveraging advanced generative AI services, the partnership aims to provide customers with powerful tools to escape technical debt, accelerate their journey to the cloud, and transform their legacy systems for a more agile and AI-driven future.
