Battlefield 6, the highly anticipated sequel in the popular military shooter series, is set to launch on October 10. The game promises a return to form for the mass-scale, combined arms-driven shooter after the negatively received Battlefield 2042.

Developers have stated that Battlefield 6 is a modern military shooter, and the game's visual style for skins emphasizes grounded, realistic military aesthetics. This focus on military simulation (mil-sim) skins is aimed at supporting immersion and authenticity, avoiding over-the-top or flashy designs that would break the immersion.

The Phantom Edition of Battlefield 6 includes black and red unlocks with modern military gear, suggesting a focus on a grounded visual style. The skins in this edition, despite having noisy red accents, adhere to the game's "grounded" focus, featuring military gear like helmets, tactical vests, and ghillie suits.

In contrast, Call of Duty's skins are known for being more extravagant, colorful, and often goofy or flashy. Call of Duty frequently features crossover skins, celebrity collaborations, neon colors, and unusual cosmetic styles that resemble Fortnite's style. This has led to a departure from a strictly military aesthetic in favor of more vibrant, expressive, and varied skins.

Preorders for Battlefield 6 are available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PS5. The Standard Edition costs $70, and EA has committed to no $80 games for now. Battlefield 6's Open Beta will be available this month on the weekends of August 9-10 and August 14-17. Early Access for the Open Beta will be offered on August 7-8. This Early Access will be available as Twitch Drops during the multiplayer reveal or to anyone who participated in early Battlefield Labs testing.

Battlefield 6 will feature the return of the class system, impressive destruction, classic modes, new modes, a new story campaign, a reworked Portal (similar to Halo Forge), and more. The game aims to provide a gritty, immersive experience that stays true to its military conflict setting, avoiding extravagant or fantastical elements.
