Beijing's 2025 Railways Exhibition Opens Its Doors
The Modern Railways 2025 exhibition commenced on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Beijing, China. The event, which took place in the capital city, drew visitors from around the world to witness the unveiling of cutting-edge railway technologies and equipment.
The exhibition featured a diverse range of innovations, with a particular focus on high-speed rail, green energy, AI integration, and intelligent systems. One of the highlights was CRRC's Hydrogen Full-Automatic Regional Train, boasting a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, signifying a major breakthrough in clean energy rail transit.
Another notable exhibit was the CR450 next-generation EMU prototypes, which are maglev trains capable of speeds up to 600 km/h. These trains switch from rubber wheels to magnetic levitation mode, drastically reducing friction and potentially cutting major travel times, such as between Beijing and Shanghai, to about two and a half hours.
The BH10 Mechanical Refrigerator Car showcased advances in rail freight technology, while Shenzhen WTHD presented railway-specific power solutions, including uninterruptible power supplies, precision air conditioning, and solar inverters. These solutions emphasize power stability and energy efficiency for rail systems.
HollySys's AI+ Rail Transit Ecosystem was also on display, powered by their HiaRailAI Large Model. This ecosystem integrates AI, edge computing, cloud computing, and digital twin technologies, and includes a Cloud Signalling Safety Platform, a Digital Twin Platform, and international rail control systems like ETCS Level 1 & 2 and SCADA.
The Modern Railways 2025 exhibition underscored a major industry focus on sustainable, intelligent, and high-speed rail technologies. By combining AI-driven digital transformation with renewable energy and next-gen propulsion systems, these innovations aim to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance in railway infrastructure and rolling stock.
Visitors to the event had the opportunity to simulate driving high-speed railway trains, providing a unique and immersive experience. Xinhua/Xing Guangli captured the excitement of the day with a series of photographs, offering a visual record of this significant event in the rail industry.
