Bolt Gets Mombasa County Boost for Expansion and Safety

Bolt, a leading ride-hailing service, has received a boost from Mombasa County. Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir hosted a Bolt delegation, pledging support for the company's expansion and commitment to safety and regulation in the industry.

Bolt plans to strengthen its presence in Mombasa by utilising public market spaces as operational hubs. The company welcomes the county government's commitment and is ready to work closely with authorities to onboard more riders, creating a safe and well-regulated environment. Currently, Bolt provides livelihoods for over 1,000 riders across Mombasa County.

The partnership will support the licensing of riders through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), enhancing safety and service standards. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Traffic Police are involved in this process, as part of the 'Safer Mombasa' initiative to improve safety and regulation in the ride-hailing sector.

Governor Nassir reaffirmed his administration's commitment to building strategic partnerships with the private sector to drive inclusive growth and youth empowerment. This partnership with Bolt aims to improve safety and regulation in the ride-hailing industry in Mombasa, while creating more employment opportunities for the youth. It is part of Governor Nassir's broader agenda to unlock jobs for young people, support innovation, and create an enabling environment for private sector investment.
