Bosch Rexroth showcases 40-axis automation capabilities in demonstration
Bosch Rexroth, a leading name in industrial automation, recently showcased its innovative ctrlX Automation portfolio at a demonstration event. The portfolio, designed as an open, scalable, and flexible automation system, integrates control technology, IT, and IoT for a wide range of industrial applications.
At the heart of the ctrlX Automation portfolio are two key components: the ctrlX Drive and the ctrlX Core.
The ctrlX Drive, an integral part of the ctrlX Automation ecosystem, offers high synchronicity down to 1 millisecond, ensuring precise motion control. It also prioritizes safety and energy efficiency, critical for modern industrial automation. The drive integrates seamlessly with the other components of the ctrlX Automation portfolio.
On the other hand, the ctrlX Core acts as the central processing and control unit within the system. It runs a real-time capable Linux operating system (ctrlX OS), supports app programming technology and web-based engineering, and enables simple networking and digitization through IoT technology. As a result, the ctrlX Core functions as an intelligent control hub that bridges machine controls and IT infrastructure.
In addition to the ctrlX Drive and the ctrlX Core, Bosch Rexroth introduced the Flow6D Floating Mover Conveyance System. This cutting-edge planar contactless levitation conveyance system aims to improve transport, positioning, and handling of loads. The system features floating movers that enable frictionless, wear-free, contactless movement, a permanent magnet motor for efficient and flexible motion control, and enhanced flexibility and safety in conveying technology.
The 40-axis demonstration of the ctrlX Automation portfolio highlighted the portfolio's energy efficiency capabilities and demonstrated its 1 ms synchronicity in operation. Dave Cameron, the director of product and project management at Bosch Rexroth, was associated with the demonstration.
The ctrlX Automation portfolio, with its components, represents a major step forward in industrial automation by combining open architecture, software-defined flexibility, real-time control, and innovative motion technology to optimize productivity and ease of engineering. This advancement is expected to revolutionize the industrial automation landscape, making it more efficient, safer, and more flexible.
