Calrec Introduces True Control 2.0 at the 2025 NAB Event
In the ever-evolving world of broadcasting and live audio production, Calrec Audio has announced the launch of True Control 2.0, a groundbreaking innovation designed to revolutionise distributed production workflows. This new system offers remote control across a wider product portfolio, making audio management more accessible and efficient than ever before.
At the heart of this development is True Control 2.0's focus on remote audio control, enabling operators to manage audio parameters from any location. This feature is particularly beneficial for remote production setups, providing the flexibility needed to adapt to the demands of today's media landscape.
True Control 2.0 is also integral to the introduction of new compact and connected audio mixers such as the Argo M and Type R. These devices, offering 24-fader and 12-fader configurations respectively, are designed for efficient remote operation, providing the scalability required for productions of varying sizes and complexities.
The new Argo M console, a plug-and-play solution, is ideal for small to medium-scale applications. It shares technology with the established Argo platform, offering up to 356 channels of internal DSP out of the box. Argo M can connect to an ST2110 networked environment and to an existing ImPulse core alongside other Argo surfaces.
Calrec's True Control 2.0 also enables users to access up to five other consoles simultaneously, delivering more control in multiple locations. From May 2025, users will be able to access extra bussing via an aux booster upgrade path on all three Argo consoles, ImPulse, and ImPulse1.
In addition, Calrec's Apollo+ and Artemis+ will become part of the True Control 2.0 family from May 2025. MIDI is now available on the Argo platform to support DAW control, further enhancing the system's versatility.
Calrec's ImpulseV, a cloud-based audio mixing solution, provides a virtualised Calrec audio mixing engine in a cloud native AWS environment. It delivers premium audio quality and Calrec's full broadcast feature set, offering a scalable solution for broadcast and live production environments.
True Control 2.0 offers expanded levels of control in EQ, dynamics, routing, direct outputs, and delay, ensuring precise and efficient management of audio workflows. ImpulseV is optimised for low latency throughput, providing real-time responsive, efficient, and deterministic audio processing, control, routing, and mixing.
Calrec will showcase its new offerings at the 2025 NAB Show in Las Vegas, where attendees will have the opportunity to see the Argo Q and Argo S audio mixing consoles paired with a redundant ImPulse core on a True Control 2.0 network, as well as the smallest ever console, the 68-piece LegoTM Calrec Argo S.
In summary, Calrec's True Control 2.0 brings remote accessibility, operational flexibility, and scalability to its connected audio mixers. This empowers broadcasters and production teams to efficiently manage audio workflows remotely, enabling more dynamic, collaborative, and cost-effective production setups particularly suited for today’s shift towards distributed and cloud-enabled media production.
