Casio & Seiko Unveil Retro-Style Desk Clocks With Modern Features

Casio has unveiled the DQD-851J-8JF, a retro-styled desk clock inspired by '80s music. Set for release on October 25, it's currently exclusive to Japan, with no North American plans yet.

The DQD-851J-8JF, measuring 102mm x 117mm and 48mm thick, weighs around 6.5oz. It's a Japan-exclusive, featuring radio-controlled time for accuracy, but manual adjustment is needed for US use. Despite lacking a stopwatch or hourly chime, it boasts an automatic calendar, thermometer, humidity sensor, alarm with five loudness settings, and a snooze button. It's priced at 4,378 yen (~$30) and uses amber LEDs for nighttime visibility, running on a pair of AA batteries with an estimated life of about a year.

Meanwhile, SEIKO has introduced the QXA005, a modern take on its classic Pyramid Alarm Clock. Available only in Japan, it combines the iconic pyramid design with modern features like radio-controlled time and a Qi-compatible smartphone charger.

Both Casio's DQD-851J-8JF and SEIKO's QXA005 offer a blend of retro design and modern all modern functionality, catering to fans of '80s aesthetics and tech enthusiasts alike. While currently Japan-exclusive, these desk clocks provide unique additions to any workspace.
