Chery's New QQ Ice Cream EV Teased: Bigger, Affordable, Coming Soon
Chery has announced the upcoming release of its new electric vehicle, the QQ Ice Cream. The first teaser image was unveiled on July 19, with reservations opening on August 24. The car is set to compete in the affordable electric vehicle market.
The QQ Ice Cream, measuring 2,980/1,496/1,637mm with a 1,960mm wheelbase, is larger than its competitor, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV. It features distinctive semicircular headlights resembling cat eyes and a charging port below the central logo. The car is equipped with a 20kw electric motor, offering both lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium battery versions.
Chery aims to price the QQ Ice Cream slightly over RMB 30,000, positioning it similarly to the Hongguang Mini EV. The company launched its first car eco-brand, iCar, in early June, partnering with Alibaba Cloud. The QQ Ice Cream is the first model from this new brand and has already been filed with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The Chery QQ Ice Cream, with its unique design and affordable price point, is set to make waves in the low-cost electric vehicle market. Its larger size compared to competitors and various battery options make it an attractive choice for budget-conscious consumers looking to go electric.
