New Humanoid Robot GR-3 Unveiled by Fourier Intelligence

Fourier Intelligence, a Shanghai-based robotics firm, has recently unveiled their latest creation - the GR-3 humanoid robot. This new model is designed to be closer to humans compared to traditional robots, setting a new standard in human-robot interaction.

The GR-3 stands at a height of 165 cm (5.5 feet) and weighs 71 kg (156.5 pounds), making it more akin to a human in size and weight. Its soft aesthetic sets it apart from traditional humanoid robot designs, with a fluid facial interface and natural movements that give it personality and presence.

One of the key features of the GR-3 is its emotional and social intelligence. Equipped with Fourier's Full-Perception Multimodal Interaction System, the robot can make eye contact, recognize human faces through cameras, and react to human gestures such as waving. It can also show emotions such as empathy and kindness, making it feel less like a machine and more like a true companion.

The GR-3 has 55 degrees of freedom, allowing it to make natural movements, and 31 pressure sensors that enable it to respond to touch with lifelike actions. This tactile feedback, combined with its visual recognition capabilities, makes it an ideal assistant for social settings and daily chores.

Unlike its predecessors, the GR-1 and GR-2, which are designed for industrial and research purposes, the GR-3 is tailored for meaningful interaction. It can help humans in various scenarios, such as remembering details about artworks in a museum, multilingual communication, and assisting busy individuals with their schedules.

Fourier Robotics has released a video showcasing the GR-3's capabilities, demonstrating its ability to squat, bend, and walk in various styles, such as a "bouncy walk" or "fatigue mode." The video also highlights the robot's ability to be controlled from large distances using new robotic equipment.

The GR-3 is part of Fourier's GRx humanoid robot lineup, which was unveiled last month. As Fourier continues to innovate in the field of humanoid robotics, the GR-3 represents a significant step forward in creating robots that can interact with humans in a more natural and meaningful way.
