Co-op game spinoff, Nightreign of Elden Ring, unveils its peculiarities in its comprehensive trailer.
Hear ye, hear ye! Elden Ring: Nightreign, the newest addition to the Elden Ring universe, is shrouded in mystery - well, unless you were one of the lucky ones who snagged a spot in the "network test" open beta back in January. So, what the Sam Hill is this game all about, you ask? None of the above, mate!
Check out the video below as the brilliant minds at FromSoftware give us the lowdown on the game structure, from the ever-changing overworld to the time-based rounds, and even a peek at the six launch classes.
Now, I, sadly, missed out on the action during the network test, but I've got my eyes (and keyboard) glued to it as it gets closer to launch. Two characters have caught my attention: the bird-man Guardian with its shield-bashing glory and the Solaire alternate skin, and the Duchess, a glass cannon combo fiend with Bloodborne vibes. I'm leaning towards the Guardian, mainly because of the sweet Solaire skin.
One intriguing new detail: each character will have their own personal quest, complete with a dash of deepest lore. It's not the main attraction, but it's nice to see a little narrative hook to go with the loot-hoarding, monster-mashing, and semi-speedrunning.
Last but not least, let's talk about the Nightlord bosses. Some familiar faces from Elden Ring will be back for more, like cosmic skull-bug Astel, ready to smash some more asses. Newcomers include a giant goat-man shaman with far too many googly goat eyes (a bit unsettling, to say the least), and a chunky, one-armed centaur warlord who's giving off major Ludwig vibes from Bloodborne.
Mark your calendars, folks! Elden Ring: Nightreign releases on May 29th, with pre-orders available now on Steam for £35/$40 for the regular edition and £48/$55 for the deluxe version, which includes bonus content like additional playable characters and bosses, hinting at a planned season pass situation.
