Community Interaction Intersects with Public Broadcasting

Based out of Reno, Nevada, SoSu.TV caters to government agencies, helping them streamline public meetings and boost community engagement. With transparency being vital for good government-public communication, SoSu.TV's services are a lifeline. However, their lack of AV expertise made supporting remote clients quite a challenge---the team was often wrestling with cumbersome systems and fiddling with solutions from various manufacturers.

Enter Yamaha and their ADECIA system, an essential collaborator in overcoming SoSu.TV's challenges. Prior to teaming up with Yamaha, SoSu.TV primarily dealt with streaming and broadcasting, leaving AV integration to third parties. The sudden shift to virtual meetings following the pandemic compelled them to dive deeper into AV integration, as poor audio quality in virtual meetings, marked by open microphones and ambient noise, would regularly disrupt proceedings.

Mark Hatjakes, co-founder at SoSu.TV, emphasized the importance of these meetings, saying, "They're just as important to the government as they are to the citizens—with stakes as high as the Super Bowl."

Expanding services to rural and smaller agencies highlighted the need for a user-friendly, scalable AV system. Most of these government bodies lacked dedicated AV teams, relying instead on IT or communications personnel with limited technical knowledge. ADECIA emerged as the ideal audio solution, thanks to its ease of installation, configuration, and remote management. This allowed SoSu.TV to support agencies without sending technicians on-site for each new meeting setup.

According to Hatjakes, working with Yamaha is one-of-a-kind given the company's resources and boutique startup mentality. "They genuinely listen to users, even visiting installations firsthand," he noted, highlighting Yamaha's proactive approach to user feedback.

ADECIA offers a comprehensive, all-in-one audio solution featuring 12-inch wireless gooseneck microphones and compact, half-rack audio processors. The wireless microphones are perfect for government meeting rooms that demand crystal-clear, real-time audio. The VLX array speakers connect via a single POE Cat5 cable, while the Yamaha RM-CR Processor serves as the system's brain, managing audio processing and control. SoSu.TV developed a custom touch panel using Yamaha's ProVisionaire software, enabling government staff to manage key functions and adjust microphone and speaker levels via an iPad.

One significant benefit of ADECIA is its scalability and remote management capabilities. SoSu.TV can ship the system to agencies where IT staff can handle installation with minimal support. Once installed, SoSu.TV can manage the system remotely, troubleshoot, and offer configuration and updates without the need for on-site personnel. This reduction in service requests frees up SoSu.TV's team, allowing them to handle more meetings and tackle other tasks. Additionally, the ADECIA system helps SoSu.TV streamline its equipment footprint, transitioning from large, two-rack systems to compact, half-rack configurations.

For government meetings that offer public participation, SoSu.TV's Nindeo platform seamlessly integrates with web conferencing solutions, facilitating engagement between citizens and local government. By leveraging Yamaha's cutting-edge audio technology, SoSu.TV elevates the broadcast quality for government clients, boosting citizen satisfaction with improved audio clarity. This partnership not only bolsters the technical aspects of the broadcasts but also strengthens the bond between government agencies and their communities.

Yamaha's ADECIA system provides SoSu.TV with the tools to address key challenges in remote AV services for government agencies: scalability, user-friendliness, and remote management capabilities. This partnership significantly enhances SoSu.TV's offering, improving efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
