Confident in its advanced AI video technology, Adobe challenges users to complete a movie initiated by director Sam Finn
Adobe has launched an exciting new project, inviting creators to finish or remix an unfinished film titled The Unfinished Film. The film, which has no ending, is available for download, along with the necessary files, for creators to use Adobe's latest AI-powered tool, Firefly, to bring their vision to life.
Adobe Firefly is a revolutionary generative AI platform designed for creative production. It offers advanced AI tools for image, video, and audio generation and editing, enabling creators to generate and manipulate images and videos from text prompts, add or remove objects, create 3D scenes, and enhance multimedia projects with AI-powered sound effects and avatar-led videos.
One of the key features of Firefly is its text-to-video capability, which rapidly generates video clips from descriptive prompts, bringing still images or storyboards to life and accelerating the creative workflow. The platform's AI capabilities also allow it to translate dialogue and entire videos into multiple languages, broadening the film's accessibility and reach.
Creators can leverage Firefly's expanded video capabilities, such as improved motion fidelity, advanced video controls, and composition reference tools, to upload a reference video and have Firefly generate new video content that transfers the original composition, maintaining visual consistency and style. Style presets allow quick application of artistic looks like claymation or anime to set tone and finish the film cohesively.
Adobe Firefly's AI-generated custom sound effects can be layered directly within the app to complete the audio landscape of the film. The platform's AI database is built using licensed content, making it safe for commercial use.
The app is available to download on the iOS App Store, Google Play Store, and online. While the software is free to download, it requires using generative credits for its AI capabilities. The free Firefly app includes enough complementary credits to generate two videos and 40 seconds of audio, but larger projects require a subscription with generative credits.
Adobe has reached out to four creators to share four different takes on remixing the film as inspiration. Keenan Lam and Simen Cohen are among the creators who have remixed the film under their respective handles, @keenanlam and @thepacman82.
Hillary K. Grigonis, a former Nikon shooter and a current Fujifilm user, has also tested a wide range of cameras and lenses across multiple brands. She leads the US coverage for Digital Camera World and has over a decade of experience writing about cameras and technology. Her work has appeared in Business Insider, Digital Trends, Pocket-lint, Rangefinder, The Phoblographer, and more. She also favours a journalistic style in her wedding and portrait photography and is a licensed drone pilot.
Adobe's project aims to demonstrate how Firefly allows creators to shift the narrative, offering a unique opportunity for creators to showcase their skills and creativity. The company believes in tools that spark new ideas, speed up workflows, and preserve creative control. With Adobe Firefly, creators can transform rough concepts or incomplete footage into polished, professional video projects with enhanced creative control and efficiency.
