Cryptocurrency Advisor for the White House, Bo Hines, Resigns
Former Pentagon Tech Official Set to Lead White House Crypto Council
Bo Hines, the current Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council, has announced his resignation and is set to join Tether as a strategic advisor for U.S. strategy and digital assets. According to reports, Patrick Witt, a former Pentagon tech official, is expected to succeed Hines in this role.
During his tenure, Hines played a key role in shaping U.S. crypto policy. He opposed central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and advocated for limited overregulation in the crypto sector. Hines also pushed for a strategic bitcoin reserve to be acquired through budget-neutral means, such as asset seizures and revaluing gold holdings.
Hines served for seven months in his role as Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council. Eleanor Terrett, a journalist for Fox Business, reported this news. It is unclear at this time who will replace Hines following his departure.
Despite leaving his role, Hines intends to continue supporting the crypto ecosystem in the United States. It remains to be seen how his departure and the potential appointment of Patrick Witt will impact the future of U.S. crypto policy.
