In the latest update to iOS, version 26, Apple has introduced a host of new customization features for the lock screen, offering users a more personalized and visually appealing experience.

One of the standout changes is the adoption of the Liquid Glass design aesthetic. The lock screen's control buttons now boast a larger, floating glass-like appearance, blending seamlessly with the overall Liquid Glass design across iOS 26. The clock also receives an upgrade, with a frosted glass look and a new "Glass" option that adds realistic lighting effects. These effects can be customized with presets or your own chosen colour, and the clock even responds to the tilt of your iPhone, creating a realistic glass effect.

Another significant addition is the ability to resize the clock dynamically. By dragging its corner, users can scale the clock to better match their chosen wallpaper, creating a more harmonious blend with the lock screen background.

For those with an iPhone 12 or later, there's the exciting new feature of Spatial Photos as wallpaper. These images feature depth and 3D-like effects that shift perspective as you move your phone, adding an extra dimension to the lock screen background.

The lock screen widgets have also been updated. Previously limited to the top of the screen, in iOS 26, you can now move the widget bar to the top or bottom of the lock screen, offering more flexible layout customization. Widget options include weather, calendar events, reminders, and more. For the lock screen, you can choose widgets for alarms, move goal progress, weather conditions, and health shortcuts.
