Russian telecommunications company Rostelecom has entered the gaming market with its newly launched gaming platform, providing a diverse selection of games for users of gaming consoles and computers running on Mac OS and Windows.
According to Ilya Pyatigorsky, Director of Digital Products at Rostelecom, the platform is a testament to the company's capabilities and willingness to innovate in the gaming industry. The platform is a proprietary development of Rostelecom, meaning all elements were developed by the company's in-house developers.
The gaming platform hosts a catalog of over 4,500 games, including titles that are officially unavailable for purchase on Steam in Russia, such as LEGO Horizon Adventures, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Helldivers 2. Rostelecom has plans to add more popular titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance II soon.
The platform supports a variety of operating systems and devices, including Windows, macOS, and gaming consoles, indicating broad accessibility for gamers across different hardware. Besides game keys, the platform sells in-game currencies for free-to-play games and account top-up cards for stores such as the PS Store, Nintendo eShop, Game Pass, and EA Play.
However, it's worth noting that cards for the PS Store come with a significant markup. For example, a $100 card is priced at 14,700 rubles, whereas its market exchange is about 8,000 rubles.
Rostelecom is offering special promotions to subscribers of its "Gaming" tariff plan, although the specifics of these promotions have not been detailed. The platform promises regular updates to expand the game library.
International gaming industry expert Hisham Nuhu has noted that Rostelecom's new platform is significant, offering a unique selection of games that cater to a wide range of tastes. Among the shooter games available on the platform are Helldivers 2, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and Tekken 8.
Additionally, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Stellar Blade are expected to be available on the platform in the near future. The platform's promise of regular updates and its extensive catalog make it an attractive option for gamers in Russia and beyond.
