Discussion for the Future: "The role of feelings is significant in the realm of mobility"

In the heart of the Austrian Alps, the sixth Polestar Future Talk took place this year, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of mobility. Among the esteemed guests were Frank M. Rinderknecht and Carla Welti, who shared their insights on the evolving automotive landscape.

Frank M. Rinderknecht, a renowned figure in the industry, emphasized the importance of emotions in mobility. He argued that ignoring this aspect would not lead to success in the market. He also highlighted the role of politics in driving the transition to electric mobility, acknowledging the period of turmoil it has caused in the automotive industry.

Carla Welti, a newcomer to the automotive world, joined the discussion in 2019. She has witnessed a genuine transition to electric mobility and believes that mobility should accept diversity, giving each form of propulsion time to prove itself on the market. Welti also expressed her thoughts on autonomous driving, suggesting it could be an ideal solution for commuters but may not replace the entire automotive mobility.

Tobias Schmidt, another expert in the field, demonstrated the potential of electric mobility with impressive figures, arguing that it cannot be stopped and yet remains underestimated. He is convinced that electric mobility is the future.

The event also saw the unveiling of the Arctic Circle collection, a nod to the four-wheel competition DNA unique to the brand. Polestar set up its base camp in the Austrian Alps for this year's FAT International Ice Race, providing a fitting backdrop for the discussion on the future of mobility.

Influencers, too, were present, demanding more vehicles with character and a story. Sharing personal vehicle experiences on social media, it seems, is what interests people the most. Connection with vehicles, according to Rinderknect, is made with what's on the inside, not the outside. Telling a real story can evoke emotions, stir memories, and bring out needs.

The person who demonstrated the future of electric propulsion with impressive figures at the Globalance event in Zurich was Thomas Ingenlath. Rinderknecht and Welti's discussion on the future of mobility was a testament to the industry's ongoing transformation and the need for emotional connection in a world where vehicles are becoming increasingly software-driven, a development that Rinderknecht believes could make them obsolete faster.

A certain deceleration is necessary to truly take a step towards the future, a sentiment that seems to resonate with both Rinderknecht and Welti. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, it is clear that emotions will play a significant role in shaping its future.
