Gettin' the Scoop on Disney Magic

'Tis the season for Disney captivation, especially at the Wonderful World of Disney in Orlando's Magic Kingdom. With Christmas around the corner, the Mouse House crew was bustling, setting up for Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade and a holiday special on ABC, Disney+, and Hulu.

Meanwhile, me and mine were passing by on Nov. 9, giving me a golden opportunity to ditch Space Mountain and channel my inner reporter on Main Street instead. There were plenty of folks gushing over co-host Julianne Hough's outfit, but I was far more intrigued by a quick chat with the crew about their fancy gear.

These friendly folks filled me in that they were using a total of ten cameras, strategically combined from Sony's VENICE and VENICE 2 digital cinema models, complete with Fujinon and Canon lenses. The crew was split between Disney employees and freelancers.

One camera was set up on a crane for an aerial perspective of the parade. Others were stationed along the route, capturing every enchanting moment of the parade as well as Hough and fellow co-host Alfonso Ribeiro, who were snuggled under a massive Christmas tree in the Town Square area - perfect for those frame-worthy photos. While they were filmed in the afternoon, two ARRI lots were at the ready for consistent lighting throughout their segments.

The parade was essentially a beloved ensemble cast of Mickey, Minnie, and a gaggle of other charismatic Disney characters, including some princesses, culminating in the grand entrance of Santa and his missus. As a sneaky treat, take a peek at the hosts in action below!

While the specific camera rig was nothing to shake a stick at, it's common for grand TV events like this one to rely on cutting-edge equipment from camera manufacturers like ARRI, RED, Sony, or Canon, with a variety of lenses and support gear. Though exact models aren't usually disclosed unless in specialized releases, if you're hankerin' for precise details, you might want to reach out to the Disney Parks production team or hunt down niche industry reports. ✨🎅🎄

During the interaction, I learned that the crew was utilizing advanced technology, including interactive displays of Sony's VENICE and VENICE 2 digital cinema models,, paired with Fujinon and Canon lenses, to capture the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade. The forthcoming entertainment of movies-and-tv, such as this parade, often relies on gadgets from renowned camera manufacturers like ARRI, RED, Sony, or Canon, which offer a plethora of lenses and support equipment.
