DJI's New Osmo 360 Camera Takes Action Cameras to the Next Level
DJI, the China-based drone maker, has unveiled its latest offering in the action camera market: the DJI Osmo 360. This innovative device is designed to compete with Insta360's offerings and promises to bring a fresh perspective to the relatively stagnant world of action cameras.
The Osmo 360 comes with a host of advanced features that set it apart from its competitors. It boasts a 1-inch CMOS sensor, a significant upgrade from typical 5.7K 360 cameras like the Insta360 X5. This sensor enables native 8K 360° video capture and 120MP photos, providing a level of detail that is currently unmatched in the market.
In terms of video and frame rates, the Osmo 360 supports 8K 360° video at 30fps, 6K 60fps in 360 mode, and 4K at 120fps with a 170° FOV in single-lens mode. It also offers 10-bit color depth with D-Log M color profile for professional-grade color grading.
The Osmo 360's twin fisheye lenses capture a sphere around itself, eliminating the need to worry about camera orientation. It also features an f/1.9 aperture and large 2.4µm pixels, making it notably better in low-light environments than the Insta360 X5.
When it comes to audio, the Osmo 360 supports OsmoAudio™ Direct Mic connection, compatible with DJI’s new Mic 3 system, and features magnetic quick-release mounts and charging, improving accessory integration.
