Dubai & Germany Join Forces to Boost Business Ties, Create Innovation Hubs
Dubai's Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and the German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK) have joined forces to bolster German business presence in the UAE and the region. The strategic partnership aims to create two innovation hubs and streamline processes for German companies entering the market.
The agreement will see the establishment of an innovation hub at Dubai Silicon Oasis and a 'DAFZ-Germany Fast Lane' at Dubai Airport Freezone. These hubs will support logistics and trade, fostering a platform for innovation and knowledge exchange, as described by Dr. Martin Henkelmann, CEO of AHK.
The partnership focuses on facilitating German company entry through fast-track processes, a dedicated 'German Desk', and tailored incentives. This aims to position Dubai's economic zones as a preferred hub for German investment and innovation.
Economic ties between the UAE and Germany have been strengthening, with non-oil trade reaching AED 50.68 billion (USD 13.8 billion) in 2024. Priority areas for collaboration include Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, sustainability, and digital commerce.
With over 200 German companies already operating in DIEZ's zones, including global names like Airbus, Porsche, DHL, and Henkel, the partnership seeks to build on this success. It aims to attract more German companies to Dubai's free zones, such as JAFZA, DMCC, DIFC, and DSO, further cementing the emirate's position as a global business hub.
