VoicePatrol, an innovative AI-based startup, has secured investment to revolutionize the online gaming experience by providing real-time protection against toxic behaviors in multiplayer game voice chats. The investment was led by GapMinder Fund II, with Ruxandra Muys-Stoian, a Romanian woman based in the US and co-founder of the WIT Angels Club, also contributing.
The brainchild of Matei Trebien, VoicePatrol's CEO and a machine learning specialist, and Cătălin Cășuneanu, the CTO and a full-stack engineer, VoicePatrol continuously monitors voice conversations, instantly analyzing content, and generating real-time alerts for toxic behavior, harassment, or abuse.
Launched in the first half of 2024, VoicePatrol has already made a significant impact, reducing toxic behaviors by 55% in the first two weeks of deployment, and then decreasing the number by 5% each week. The system, available in multiple languages and soon to reach 20 languages, is designed to manage interactions in multiplayer environments, aiming to protect users from toxic behavior and harassment, thereby increasing player retention and revenues for game developers.
The growing demand for protection tools, as online communities expand, become more interactive, and regulatory pressure increases, has made VoicePatrol's mission of ensuring a safer and more respectful environment in voice chats increasingly important. Through AI, VoicePatrol understands context and classifies incident severity in a centralized dashboard for easy incident management.
The investment, made in an Early-Seed round, will be used for technology expansion, team growth, implementation of new protection features, and commercial development in the US and Europe.
