EIB Backs ACCIONA's €120M R&D Push for Sustainable Infrastructure

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €120 million loan with ACCIONA, a global leader in providing regenerative solutions. The loan supports ACCIONA's research, development, and innovation efforts, serving the TechEU initiative that aims to mobilise €250 billion by 2027. This financing aligns with two of the EIB's core priorities: digitalisation and climate action.

ACCIONA will use the funds to advance innovative materials, processes, and technologies in its areas of activity related to infrastructure, renewable energy, and water treatment. The investment will focus on innovative technological solutions, business optimisation, automation, and decarbonisation. Additionally, it will cover cross-cutting projects in digitisation, robotisation, the Internet of Things, data analysis, and applied AI.

This new financing builds on the EIB's ongoing support for ACCIONA's R&D activities, supplementing previous agreements. It also follows the EIB's significant investment in Spain in 2024, where it provided €12.3 billion for over 100 projects, including investments by CAF in Spain and Poland for autonomous mobility and more energy-efficient transport.

The €120 million loan from the EIB to ACCIONA aims to foster more sustainable and efficient infrastructure. By supporting ACCIONA's digitalisation strategy and R&D efforts, the loan contributes to the EIB's core priorities and the broader TechEU initiative, ultimately driving innovation and sustainability across Europe.
