Electric Freightway Project: eHGVs Hit UK Roads, Awards Recognize Innovation
Hitachi ZeroCarbon and Gridserve have published the second report of their Electric Freightway Project. The document reviews their work developing electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) and the challenges of building advanced charging networks.
The project has seen the deployment of eHGV-specific charging stations across the UK. These innovative stations have been recognized for their excellence, with companies and individuals receiving awards at the 2024 third CiTTi Awards. The report emphasizes the importance of digital technologies in managing and analyzing data for eHGVs.
The first eHGVs have already been placed on UK roads as part of this initiative. The project highlights the crucial role of collaboration between industry and government stakeholders in solving infrastructure challenges. Lilian Greenwood, the future of roads minister, has praised the project's successes and the government's commitment to decarbonizing road freight.
The Electric Freightway Project's second report showcases the progress made in developing eHGVs and their charging infrastructure. With the first eHGVs now on UK roads and industry-government collaboration thriving, the project is well-positioned to drive the decarbonization of road freight.
