Belarus is witnessing a significant surge in the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), with the number of EVs on its roads now exceeding 38,500 units, as revealed by Belarusian Minister of Energy Denis Moroz during a visit to the Lukoml GRES. This rapid growth has been accompanied by a record increase in electricity consumption at charging stations across the country. In 2024, electricity consumption at charging stations in Belarus reached 39 million kWh, more than doubling compared to the previous year. By the first eight months of 2025, this figure had risen further to exceed 50 million kWh. The Minister expects this trend to continue, predicting that the number of EVs on Belarus's roads could reach 50,000 units by the end of 2025. He also anticipates that this number could grow to 300,000 by 2030, significantly impacting the country's energy system. The Ministry of Energy is optimistic about the continued active development of EVs in Belarus. The monthly increase of EVs in the country is over 2,000 vehicles, indicating a growth rate that is increasing at an alarming pace. This development comes as no surprise, given the growing popularity of EVs worldwide. The increasing availability of charging infrastructure, government incentives, and the environmental benefits of EVs are likely contributing factors to this trend.
