Huawei's Aito M8 EV BEV Garners Over 15,000 Pre-Orders in First 72 Hours

Huawei's foray into the electric vehicle market with the Aito M8 EV BEV has been met with high demand, as the premium battery electric mid-to-large SUV received over 15,000 pre-orders within the first 72 hours of its launch on July 25.

The Aito M8 EV BEV boasts an impressive 100 kWh CATL battery with an 800V high-voltage platform, offering a CLTC range up to 705 km (438 miles) for the long-range version and 655 km for the AWD version. It also features dual motors for AWD versions, producing a combined output of about 387–392 kW (526 hp), and rear-wheel-drive versions with a single motor producing 227 kW (305 hp).

Performance-wise, the Aito M8 EV BEV achieves 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.8 seconds for AWD versions, boasts a top speed of around 200 km/h (124 mph), and offers a drive system of AWD dual motor or RWD single motor.

In terms of battery and charging, the Aito M8 EV BEV supports ultra-fast charging up to 480 kW, adding over 300 km of range in 10 minutes, and offers a 10–80% charge in under 30 minutes (estimated).

The Aito M8 EV BEV's dimensions are impressive, with a length of 5,190 mm, width of 1,999 mm, height of 1,795 mm, wheelbase of 3,105 mm, and seating for either 5 or 6 passengers with a spacious interior, including an 180 mm flat aisle between the second-row seats in the six-seater model.

The Aito M8 EV BEV also boasts a drag coefficient of 0.259, making it highly aerodynamic, and features a 1.8m LED light strip, retractable door handles, and animated tail lights. Its suspension and driving dynamics include a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension, closed dual-chamber air suspension with continuous damping adjustment, and Huawei's Owl Steer by Wire system, which enables a tight minimum turning radius of 5.75 meters.

The Aito M8 EV BEV is equipped with Huawei ADS 4.0 advanced driver-assistance system, featuring Huawei’s 192-line lidar, a high-precision rear solid-state lidar, and five 4D imaging radars. It supports active safety, intelligent driving assistance, and automated parking functions.

The interior and technology of the Aito M8 EV BEV include the HarmonyOS 4.0 infotainment system, a 75-inch HUD vertical display (per some trims), and premium materials such as Nappa leather and black ash wood trims in higher trims.

The Aito M8 EV BEV was launched in 2025 with multiple trims, including the Max, Max+, and Ultra, with increasing features and pricing from around $49,000 up to $65,000. The official launch date for the M8 EV BEV variant is August, and mass deliveries began in September 2025.

The pre-orders for the M8 EV BEV variant were disclosed by Huawei's HIMA business, with over 40 percent of customers opting for the purple exterior color. Richard Yu, the executive director and chairman of the consumer business group at Huawei, announced on Weibo that over 15,000 pre-orders were received for the Aito M8 EV. With its advanced EV technology, high-performance specs, spacious and premium interior, and cutting-edge intelligent driving aids, the Aito M8 EV BEV has positioned itself as a highly competitive offering in the Chinese EV market backed by Huawei's technology ecosystem.
