Electrified Jeep Compass Transformed to Produce an Electric Magnetic Field

For the very first time, Jeep's compact SUV, the Compass, has embraced electric powertrains as it enters its third generation. This C-segment contender, accounting for nearly a quarter of the European car market, is designed to rule the European roads, offering enhanced space and modern driver assistance systems. Its global launch will begin in Europe, with other markets to follow suit.

New Age, New Power

Jeep's compact SUV is built on Stellantis' STLA platform, boasting various powertrain concepts. The Compass can be had with three different powertrain options, with a 48-volt mild hybrid delivering 107 kW/145 PS kicking things off. A plug-in hybrid with 143 kW/195 PS comes next.

But the true excitement lies in the three electric versions of the Compass. The base model accelerates with a front-wheel-drive electric motor delivering 157 kW/213 PS and boasting a WLTP range of up to 500 kilometers. The middle option features the same power output but a shorter range, while the top electric version offers an impressive 276 kW/375 PS complete with an all-wheel-drive system. Its 74 kWh battery pack promises a WLTP range of up to 650 kilometers under optimal conditions.

With a DC fast-charging capability of up to 160 kW, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just around 30 minutes. The onboard charger supports AC charging at up to 22 kW.

Range on the Rise

Improved aerodynamics lead to higher efficiency and extended range. Active louvres in the grille, innovative wheel air guides, sharp rear edges, and a completely flat underbody bring the drag coefficient (cW) down by 10% to under 0.3.

Despite keeping company with vehicles in the D-segment on its platform, the new Compass remains true to its compact roots at 4.55 meters in length. Increased legroom in the rear and a 45-liter increase in boot space to 550 liters, along with a 34-liter front storage compartment, offer more versatility. The standard 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats ensure ample room for passengers and luggage.

A Jeep Through and Through

Recognizable brand-typical details define the Jeep Compass's body design, including a seven-slotted grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, and functional, modular skid plates on the bumpers and sills. A higher-positioned front radar sensor ensures the Compass can handle challenging terrain and tight parking maneuvers without a hitch. All-wheel-drive versions come equipped with additional protective elements and a rear tow hook.

Freshened-Up Interiors and Suspension Tweaks

A new infotainment system graces the Compass's cockpit, featuring a 10.25-inch instrument display and a central 16-inch touchscreen. "Over-the-air" updates ensure that the software stays current without the need for costly workshops. Factory-installed driver-assistance systems support Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. A head-up display, matrix LED headlights, a digital vehicle key for mobile phones, and a semi-automatic lane change assistant are available as optional extras.

Jeep has fine-tuned the suspension to offer a comfortable ride while maintaining precise handling. Ground clearance varies from 20 cm for the front-wheel-drive model to impressive off-road capabilities for all-wheel-drive versions, which boast approach angles of 27 degrees in the front and 31 degrees in the rear, a departure angle of 16 degrees, and a wading depth of 47 cm. These features, coupled with the standard "Selec-Terrain" mode, underbody protection, and hill descent control system, make the new Compass a force to be reckoned with.

Delivery of the first electric Jeep Compass models is scheduled for the last quarter of 2025, with official pricing details yet to be confirmed. The previous model was available from around 40,000 euros. In the UK, electric versions of the Compass might start under £40,000, while in Italy, the Compass First Edition e-Hybrid (a mild hybrid) is listed at €41,900, with a promotional price of €39,900. These prices apply to the e-Hybrid model and not the fully electric version. Overall, pricing trends suggest a competitive strategy aimed at making the electric Compass accessible to consumers worldwide.

  1. The state-of-the-art manufacturing process of the electric Jeep Compass incorporates cutting-edge technology, showcasing the fusion of sports-utility vehicle design with modern electric powertrains.
  2. As the third generation of Jeep's compact SUV takes the field, it brings a touch of sports appeal to the realm of electric vehicle manufacture, bridging the gap between electricity and speed.
