Elon Musk's Tesla restaurant sparks debate among TikTok users regarding their anticipations versus actual experiences

In the heart of Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard, Elon Musk's latest venture, the Tesla Diner, has opened its doors to the public. The diner, decorated with Cybertruck-themed packaging and a large screen outside playing films to entertain waiting customers, has quickly attracted crowds since its opening on Monday, 28 July.

The menu at the Tesla Diner offers a range of classic American diner fare, from burgers and sandwiches to sides and milkshakes. The prices of the main items range from about $7 to $15, with sides priced from $4 to $12. Some key menu prices include the Tesla Burger at $13.50, the Hot Dog at $13, the Diner Club Sandwich (priced between $13 and $15), the Tuna Melt at $14, the Fried Chicken & Waffles at $13.5 to $15, the Grilled Cheese at $9, the Egg Sandwich at $12, the Avocado Toast at $11, the Greek Yogurt Parfait at $9, the Breakfast Tacos at $11, the Biscuits & Red Gravy at $15, the House-Baked Cinnamon Roll at $7, Kids' Meals at $13, and Sides and soft drinks starting at $4.

However, the diner's offerings have received mixed reviews. Food reviewer Natelo (@natelovlogs) was a fan of the smash burger, calling it "pretty good," but was less impressed with the chicken and waffle sandwich, describing it as "really dry." TikTok user @marinaodinn, on the other hand, gave the chicken burger a solid "ten out of ten" but was disappointed with the popcorn, which she found "kind of stale."

One TikTok user shared an 'Instagram vs Reality'-style post showing a single rasher of bacon from the diner, which has been viewed nearly 7 million times. Another Twitter user, @marinaodinn, waited for five hours to eat at the diner, despite being told it would take about two. Despite the long wait, her son enjoyed being served by Tesla robots.

The 'Epic Bacon' at Elon Musk's Tesla Diner is no longer listed on the online menu. Natelo, who waited two hours in line, called the hot dog "disgusting" but said the fried pickles and bacon slices were exceptional, with the bacon being the best he ever had.

Overall, the Tesla Diner offers a mid-range casual dining experience by local standards, with pricing considered modest compared to other diners in Los Angeles. Customers can order directly from their Tesla vehicle via the touchscreen or mobile app.
