Enthusiastic SAF-HOLLAND expresses passion for all brand exhibitions at the IAA event
At the IAA Transportation 2024 event, the SAF-HOLLAND Group unveiled a collection of future-oriented mobility solutions, emphasising safety, sustainability, and partnership. While specific presentations from SAF-HOLLAND at the 2024 event are not yet detailed, industry trends and related previews suggest several key focus areas in SAF-HOLLAND's showcase.
The company, renowned for its vehicle components for commercial vehicles, is expected to highlight technologies that improve vehicle handling, braking stability, and driver assistance, contributing to safer transport operations. These innovations align with the latest safety standards showcased at IAA events.
Reflecting industry shifts, SAF-HOLLAND is likely to emphasise lightweight materials, fuel-efficient trailer solutions, and drivetrain enhancements that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This aligns with Germany’s and the EU’s strong push for decarbonization in freight transport using electric and alternative-fueled powertrains, as well as advanced telematics for optimised fleet management.
SAF-HOLLAND may also highlight collaborative initiatives aimed at integrating hydrogen or other green technologies into thermal engines for trucks and trailers. This reflects the growing trend of partnerships, such as the joint venture between key players like Westport and others for developing HPDI technology aimed at hydrogen engines.
At IAA Transportation, SAF-HOLLAND, Haldex, and other brands presented a united front, demonstrating the importance of close cooperation between the brands. Highlights included SAF-HOLLAND's fifth-wheel couplings, which ensure a secure connection between truck and trailer with an optical safety indication and integrated locking security.
The harmonious integration of the brands, the sophisticated safety solutions, and the sustainable technologies received great approval from industry visitors. Customers will benefit from the expansion of the corporate group through a broader product portfolio and an extended market presence in various regions.
Notable products showcased include Haldex's EB+ 4.0 trailer brake system, which integrates a TPMS gateway (tire pressure monitoring system) to reduce tire failures and increase safety on the road. The SAF TRAKr electric recuperation axle, a product by SAF-HOLLAND, converts kinetic energy into electrical energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.
From the fourth quarter of 2024, one of the largest truck manufacturers will equip its trucks with SAF-HOLLAND's disc brake as standard, provided by Haldex. The electrohydraulic steering system from VSE contributes to reduced fuel consumption due to its low weight and optimal steering angle.
SAF-HOLLAND's biodegradable special lubricant HOLLAND RECOLUBE BIOPOWER SKX 023 was also on display, offering an environmentally friendly way to lubricate fifth-wheel couplings. The modular truck brake technology, the ModulT system, by Haldex, impresses with significant weight savings and cost advantages.
The corporate group is working on solutions for connectivity, electrification, and autonomous driving. The synergies of the corporate group were well-received by the industry visitors at IAA Transportation. The three central themes presented were "More Safety", "More Sustainability", and "More Partnership".
SAF-HOLLAND presented all its brands together at IAA Transportation for the first time under the motto "SAF-HOLLAND for better Transportation". The united front presented by SAF-HOLLAND, Haldex, and other brands at IAA Transportation in Hannover resonated well with the industry, demonstrating SAF-HOLLAND's commitment to advancing commercial vehicle technology towards a safer and greener future in cooperation with industry stakeholders.
In the upcoming IAA Transportation 2024 event, it is anticipated that SAF-HOLLAND will spotlight innovations in finance, technology, and the industry, focusing on products that improve vehicle safety, such as fifth-wheel couplings, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, like the SAF TRAKr electric recuperation axle. The company's partnerships, such as the collaboration on hydrogen engine technology, will also be emphasized.
