Nintendo has sold an impressive 152 million Switch home-portable devices since its 2017 launch, establishing itself as a powerhouse in the gaming industry. With hits like two "The Legend of Zelda" titles and the COVID-19 pandemic's sensation, "Animal Crossing: New Horizons," under its belt, the company is riding a waves of success.

While much remains the same, the Switch 2 promises a larger screen, improved graphics, and debuts with titles like "Mario Kart World." According to Piers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at Ampere Analysis, the broader audience of Switch users should boost opening-phase adoptions.

The $499.99 Switch 2 launch tests Nintendo's supply chain management amid the U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war. Nintendo plans to sell 15 million Switch 2 units this financial year, alongside 4.5 million Switch units. To meet the high demand, Nintendo aims to bolster production capacity and intensify sales promotions.

Nintendo boasts 2.2 million Switch 2 lottery applicants on its My Nintendo Store in Japan, and pre-orders at Target sold out in under two hours. The Switch 2's promising debut has sent Nintendo's shares soaring near record highs, with a 30% rise this year.
