From Vehicles to Vitality
After completing his schooling, Erol Mete commenced an apprenticeship as a car mechanic. Although he found solace in the whirring engine noises, the job didn't resonate with him as deeply as he'd hoped. For a year, Erol worked as a painter and body repairer, but again, something crucial was missing. He then spent seven years as a machine operator, eventually finding himself at temp agencies. But a driving license for forklifts paved the way for a brief stint as a forklift operator.
Unsatisfied with his career path, Erol made the courageous decision to take a leap into the world of health and healing. "I had always wanted to be a nurse," he confesses, and so he did. He began with a voluntary internship and then embarked on his nursing training.

Erol Mete completed his nursing training and became a practice instructor, guiding apprentices in their pursuit of their nursing exams. For 14 years, he worked diligently in the accident and emergency department at St. Vinzenz Hospital Dinslaken. That was, until his former head nurse nudged him towards something extraordinary: wound management. Given his respect for his mentor, Erol embraced the challenge and became a wound care specialist.
At the time, St. Vinzenz lacked a wound management department. Erol Mete saw an opportunity to bring about change. After completing the required courses and training, he commenced his journey as the first Wound Manager at St. Vinzenz. He began by working part-time while continuing his nursing role, but eventually, he decided he wanted to dedicate himself entirely to the field.

Erol Mete's dedication to his role as a Wound Manager is evident. "The sheer variety of my work keeps me engaged," he says, "no wound is exactly the same, so the treatment plan is always unique." Being the sole Wound Manager at St. Vinzenz Hospital Dinslaken places a considerable task on his shoulders, but he handles it with grace and determination. In addition to his responsibilities at St. Vinzenz, he also oversees the Wound Management department at St. Camillus Hospital in Duisburg.
