Etherscan Unveils API v2: Simplifying Multi-Chain Development
Etherscan, a leading blockchain analytics platform, has unveiled a significant update to its API service. The new version, API v2, offers a unified interface for over 50 EVM-compatible blockchains, simplifying multi-chain development and data access.
The new API, launched in beta, provides a single access point for blockchain data. It allows developers to use a single API key and the chainID parameter to specify the desired chain, replacing the need for multiple keys and complex configurations. This simplification speeds up product launches and reduces maintenance costs.
API v2 maintains backward compatibility with v1, ensuring that existing applications and services continue to function without disruption. It also introduces enhanced security measures, with API keys acting as digital ID badges to identify users and confirm their access to data. The API v2 beta was introduced in June, powered by AI and featuring the Code Reader tool, which analyzes the source code of smart contracts.
