Ferrari has not discussed the prospect of developing a second or third electric vehicle.
Ferrari's Second Electric Vehicle Remains On Schedule for 2026, According to CEO
Contrary to rumors circulating in recent months, Ferrari's second electric vehicle is not expected to be delayed from its planned 2026 launch. This is according to the company's CEO, Benedetto Vigna, who denied any delay during a Q2 2025 earnings call.
The technological core of Ferrari's first electric vehicle will be unveiled on October 9, 2025, during the Capital Markets Day. The company anticipates full production and initial deliveries of the first EV to begin in 2026.
Rumors from June 2025 suggested that the second EV launch had been pushed back to 2028 due to supposedly low demand. However, Vigna expressed strong optimism and confirmed no setbacks in their EV project timeline during the earnings call.
Ferrari is taking a deliberate, phased approach to the reveal of its first EV, with design concepts expected in early 2026 and a complete debut later that year. The full vehicle presentation of the first electric vehicle is scheduled for next year, in 2027.
Despite insider reports suggesting that the timeline for the second EV may have been internally adjusted, there has been no authoritative confirmation of any official delay beyond what Ferrari has publicly stated. Reports indicate a discrepancy between Reuters' report and Ferrari's statements regarding the delay of the second electric vehicle.
The starting price of Ferrari's first electric vehicle is expected to be over 500,000 euros, making it an exclusive model. By 2030, Ferrari aims to have 40% of its sales come from electric vehicles, with another 40% coming from hybrid models. The remaining 20% of Ferrari's sales in 2030 will be purely internal combustion engine vehicles.
CEO Benedetto Vigna has expressed confidence in the success of the first electric Ferrari, stating that there have been "no delays" in its development. Interestingly, Vigna has never publicly discussed a second or third electric car. However, Ferrari has confirmed plans to release a second electric vehicle, although the exact timeline remains uncertain.
In a recent test drive, Vigna expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming model. The first electric Ferrari, set to launch next year, might not be a sports car, but an SUV or a Gran Turismo, as early test vehicles have used the body of a Maserati Levante. A sneak peek of the interior of Ferrari's first electric vehicle is expected in early 2026.
