Future of Caravaning in Hessian Rhön: Lecture on Oct 8
A nationwide project is underway to promote sustainable development and nature-friendly management of caravan tourism in Germany's most beautiful natural areas. This initiative aims to balance tourism growth with environmental protection. In the Hessian part of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and the Naturpark Hessische Rhön, significant changes in motorhome tourism have been observed, particularly during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 8, 2025, a lecture will be held in Hilders to discuss the future of caravaning infrastructure in the region. The event, taking place from 6 to 7:30 PM at the Hessian Administrative Office of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, will be led by Thomas Nitsch, a campsite advisor and speaker with over 30 years of experience in the field. Nitsch, speaking on behalf of the Caravaning Industry Association (CIVD), will share practical insights into future-oriented caravaning infrastructure.
The Hessian Rhön is one of ten model regions selected for this project, which is a collaboration between the National Nature Landscapes (NNL) e.V., the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) e.V., and the CIVD e.V. The project aims to manage and promote caravan tourism in a way that respects and preserves the natural beauty of these areas.
The lecture on October 8, 2025, promises to provide valuable insights into the future of caravaning infrastructure in the Hessian Rhön region. The project, involving key stakeholders in nature conservation and the caravaning industry, seeks to strike a balance between tourism growth and environmental sustainability.
