Glastonbury Festival 2025: Audiovisual Spectacle Illuminates Worthy Farm
Glastonbury Festival Amplifies the Sounds of Music with Top-Tier Audio Equipment
The Glastonbury Festival, a celebrated event spanning 1,000 acres and hosting over 80 stages, brings together an impressive array of artists and cutting-edge technology. Two main audio providers, Funktion-One and Martin Audio, supported by hire company RG Jones Sound Engineering, ensure that the main stages resonate with crystal-clear sound for the 200,000 festival-goers and millions more watching via BBC broadcasts.
Martin Audio Takes Centre Stage
The Pyramid Stage, often considered the main stage, is equipped with Martin Audio's MLA series loudspeakers. Four hangs of MLAs are positioned for left and right, with one MLD acting as a central cardioid sub-bass array. Thirty-two MLX subs form the sub-bass array on the ground, and two DD12 fills, along with various delay and fill cabinets, complete the setup. RG Jones Sound Engineering supplies the equipment, with Ben Milton, the head of sound for the Pyramid Stage since 2013, overseeing the system that has been in use since 2008.
Funktion-One Shines on The Glade Stage
On The Glade Stage, Funktion-One's Vero VX medium-format vertically arrayable loudspeaker system delivers exceptional clarity, midrange presence, and dynamic range. The system features asymmetric bass configurations with F124 and newly upgraded F132 sub-bass loudspeakers. Funktion-One has provided audio for The Glade for over 15 years and uses it as a testing ground for their latest technologies.
A Symphony of Sound Across Glastonbury
Other stages at the festival also benefit from high-end audio equipment. The Temple stage in The Common includes a four-point in-the-round system of Danley Jericho J3-94s. BBC Introducing utilizes four WPCs, six SX218s, and X12 front fills. Arcadia, arguably the most impactful dance area at Glastonbury, features The Dragonfly as its centrepiece in 2024, with a six-point immersive sound system based on L-Acoustics L and K Series loudspeakers.
The Other Stage, West Holts, IICON, and Genosys stages are also outfitted with Martin Audio Wavefront Precision arrays, while The Glade Stage's sound system is supplied by rental firm Audio Plus. Five of The Common's stages feature Danley Sound Labs point source rig sound systems, supplied by Manchester hire company Neuron AV. Entec Live supplies the sound system for The Other Stage, featuring d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers.
As the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts continues to evolve, so too does its commitment to delivering an unparalleled audio experience for music lovers worldwide.
