Glenfiddich Introduces Exclusive Limited-Edition NFTs for Chinese New Year Celebrations

Glenfiddich, a renowned Scottish whisky producer, has announced the release of 200 exclusive non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as part of its Year of the Tiger celebration. The NFTs, priced at 0.15 ETH each, will be available for purchase via BlockBar.com — the world's first direct-to-consumer NFT marketplace for wines and spirits, marking the Lunar New Year.

These digital tokens, termed 'non-fungible', represent a new kind of purchase. Each NFT serves as a digital receipt, assuring the ownership and authenticity of the linked physical bottle of Glenfiddich's 21-year-old Reserva Rum cask single malt Scotch whisky. Purchasers can choose to resell their NFT, gift it, or redeem it for the physical bottle at any time.

A historical distiller with family-owned roots dating back to the 1800s, Glenfiddich has built a reputation for innovation. The brand is internationally recognized, retailing in over 180 countries globally. Their 21-Year-Old Scotch whisky, matured on-site at the Dufftown distillery for two decades, is aged further in Caribbean rum casks under the guidance of Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, to infuse the spirit with flavors of ginger, fig, lime, banana, and a warm spicy toffee.

Will Peacock, Global Luxury Director of William Grant & Sons, commented on the launch, stating, "We're thrilled to launch our first-ever Chinese New Year NFT with BlockBar.com to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. This limited edition bottle design exclusively available on BlockBar represents the endless possibilities for 2022, and we're delighted to share this spirit with two hundred fortunate customers."

Established in October 2021, BlockBar.com aims to connect consumers and collectors with luxury wine and spirits brands. The platform provides transparency, guarantees authenticity, and offers quality assurance and storage. By partnering with top cyber and crypto-security firms, transactions made on the platform are fully protected.

The limited edition label for the Chinese New Year release is inspired by the final artwork in the trilogy series, designed by illustrator Rlon Wang. The design showcases an emblematic Stag and endless horizons, symbolizing possibility and opportunity. Each NFT includes access to Wang's complete artwork, individual digital illustrations of the design's icons, and a Golden Stag GIF for early access to the next Glenfiddich drop.

Consumers can purchase the Glenfiddich 21-Year-Old Chinese New Year Limited Edition on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Tuesday, 1st February, through BlockBar.com, using Ethereum (ETH) or a credit card. For further information, visit glenfiddich.com/uk/.

  1. Glenfiddich's innovation in the realm of technology extends beyond their distillery, as they collaborate with BlockBar.com to utilize artificial intelligence to authenticate and secure the ownership of their limited-edition NFTs related to food-and-drink, such as the Chinese New Year Limited Edition 21-Year-Old Scotch whisky.
  2. The incorporation of digital art-work by Rlon Wang into the Glenfiddich NFTs not only enhances their lifestyle appeal but also serves as a testament to the growing integration of traditional artistic expressions with modern technology.
